Coordinating Solutions for Maximum Impact in Rural Africa

Our Thesis

1) Rural African families face many challenges.

2) Many challenges require multiple solutions.

3) Uncoordinated solutions are inefficient.

4) We coordinate solutions for maximum impact.

Solutions

Africa Coordinated Development runs several projects and works with various partners so that rural African families can have access to a variety of complimentary solutions.

ACD Programs

  • We are starting with an after-school program for children in the surrounding communities. The program will consist of learning times covering core school subjects as well as fine arts. Each day will consist of learning, homework times, a meal, a health check by a trained staff member, and play times. We plan to expand to a nursery then multiple grade levels in the coming year.

  • During months of hunger during the dry season, ACD provides meals to local children. Children are encouraged to stay and be part of the educational programming that takes place every day.

  • ACD is planning on building a clinic in rural Malawi, next to the after-school program, in order to provide health services to the surroundind local communities.

Partner Programs

  • Partner: Small Farm Cities (SFC)

ACD core programming takes place in close proximity to SFC sites, so families involved in ACD programs often have access to SFC programs, and vice versa. At SFC, qualified families can receive a mortgage and live in a home that they can invest their income in

  • Partner: Small Farm Cities (SFC)

Families living in an SFC neighborhood have access to clean water, a proper waste management system, and live in quality homes which significantly reduce the risk of infection compared to common mud and dirt homes.

  • Partner: Small Farm Cities (SFC)

Every Small Farm Cities site offers free wifi in their community center. Families can access this wifi and electronic devices to continue their education. Several community members are getting online degrees and learning coding.

  • Partner: Small Farm Cities

Small Farm Cities employs over 100 rural men and women as part of their various businesses, which include commercial greenhouse production, open field agriculture, and construction. In addition, various short-term work is available for families living near the sites.
